Our History

Barbara Beasley, M.S., founder of Galilee Montessori dreamed of creating a small Montessori school by the sea. In 1986, plans and preparations began and in 1988, Children's House of Galilee first opened its doors and welcomed children ages 3-6. Over the past 25 years, due to an increased demand for quality Montessori education in our community, an additional two primary classroom were added, as well as our elementary program serving children ages six to ten, and a toddler program serving children ages 18 to 36 months. As our school continues to grow, we remain committed to creating a family-centered community, that supports the well-being of the whole child and cultivates an environment that fosters joy, independence and a love of learning.

Galilee Montessori is uniquely situated one block from the Atlantic Ocean and is within a short distance of a community treasure, First Landing State Park. This proximity allows us to extend the classroom experience outdoors and into the greater environment.
